Trans Bhutan Trail

This Trekking and Hiking Trail is an ancient trail that cuts across 9 dzongkhags or districts of Bhutan, namely, HAA, PARO, THIMPHU, PUNAKHA, WANGDUEPHODRANG, TRONGSA, BUMTHANG, MONGAR and TRASHIGANG. Starting from the HAA district and ends in TRASHIGANG.

For an average hiker it takes 35 days to cover this entire Trail, however, to make it possible for all levels of Hikers, this trail can be hiked in parts of a few days to several days.

The Trans Bhutan Trail is an ancient trail restored after 60 years after being abandoned since the motor roads were constructed in Bhutan.

This trail was restored entirely with support from the Bhutan Canadian Foundation, a Non Profit Organization in Bhutan and under the patron of the King of Bhutan.

There are village home stays, lodges and Camping sites while venturing on this trail.

It is a beautiful trail and recently after it was opened to public, the Young Scouts of Bhutan hiked this trail for the entire 35 days, and each one had their own experience on this trail of fulfilment, of enjoying the remoteness and the beauty of nature, of fatigue, of amazement coming across far flung villages and their life in the wilderness.

The combination of distance, altitude, remoteness and weather makes this trek a positively challenging experience. However, you will be trekking in places so beautiful naturally as some of the places are least visited.

We arrange everything for this trek, including the local guides who are highly familiar with the trek route and are instant reactors when emergency arises.

Finally,Your efforts will be rewarded not only by your own feeling of accomplishment but also by having the opportunity to see the rare Takin, our national animal, and other unique flora and fauna.

Please email us at bhutanjewel@gmail for your interest in hiking this trail and the number of days you’d like to hike for. Then we will customize your trail itinerary and send you along with the pricing.
